The Sid-Vale-Railway. Our New N Gauge DCC controlled layout 2021-23
NEWS Update. The Pictures below are more or less in Date order.
July 2024 Our NEW laser cut Elevation section is being installed, this will give the layout height and a Terminus ready for the Oct 6th Exhibition
March 2024 Further upgrades have been taking place on our N Gauge Railway layout, we have had successful running sessions around the whole layout, using the Z21 DCC system. Also the addition of an embankment along the front edge of the layout has greatly reduced that 'Drop of the edge' that so many model railway layouts suffer from. Scenery is being added by the team, with Mike H, Ian, Jack, etc, all taking part. Our extended meeting times, (watch the website diary) have meant a lot more work in one session can be achieved.
July 2023 after our very successful open day in 2023, where the layout was put on display as a distinctly Work in Progress. Demonstrating what we intended to achieve in the long term. It was decided to re lay the track to our new standards, the pictures are more or less in date order with the newest at the bottom of the page. Come along and join in
Dec'22 saw the track laying on the fiddle yard side of the layout completed, plus a 'Programming Track for DCC'
The sid vale association has kindly helped with a 50-50 grant towards our new sid vale railway N gauge DCC controlled layout. The first track being laid on the 22/08/22 after extensive work has taken place over the last 6 months building the baseboards. Then adding a cork surface, and most important providing a method of working from the top to align all the twelve baseboards without having to clamber underneath to assemble the boards at each meeting.
Our New Z21 DCC controller was tried out for the first time in August 2022, with a test train running around our test track, with at least three members having 'control' using there own mobile phones to guide the train around the tracks. More information and pictures will be added to this page.
